Grade 4 Scrapbook Layout

Good morning! I have a scrapbook layout for you today. This is the layout we did at my scrapbook clubs this month. It uses some new product as well as a couple new-to-me dies. I love playing with new toys:) I've listed the supplies used at the bottom of the post but I did want to point out a couple of things on the layout.

First of all this decorative strip. I love the look of this and think it goes really well with the page. I've seen this done alot with ribbon and then stitched through the centre but I didn't want to bother with the sewing! So I used pattern paper and sticky strip and it holds nicely. I cut a couple strips about 3/4" wide and ran sticky strip all the way across my page (after wheeling). Then started on one end and just randomly folded it to create little 'waves'.
These little accents were created using our circles #2 die. The die has 4 different sized circles on it so I cut one of each size in a different pattern paper from the cottage wall dsp. Then distressed them a bit by wrinkling them and sponging the edges. I layered them and then held them together using a basic gray corduroy brad. This is a great way to make a quick & easy accent!
Thanks for stopping by, I will be back tomorrow with some information on a couple upcoming classes.
Have a great day!

Mini Milk Carton for the Birds

Mini Milk Carton Bird House Today's post will be a quick one, I've got lots of catching up to do after having a sick child at home since Wednesday of last week.

This cute little bird house was made using the Mini Milk carton die (117310) from the Occasions Mini. Patty Bennett had some samples of these at Leadership and I thought it was such a cute idea. I'm also loving this new two-step bird punch (117191). I've been creating lots of cards with it lately! Even some out-of -the-box ideas! I'll share those with you another time.

If you have any questions about the supplies used here, just let me know. I'll be back tomorrow with the scrapbook layout we did at my scrapbook clubs this month.

Have a great day!

Haitian Disaster Relief

On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope.

I love that I am involved with a company that cares so much. Check out what they've done at the SU! home office already! Shelli (cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up!) has some details on her blog. Stampin' Up! will also be donating $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set sold between now and February 28th!

In addition to Stampin' Up!'s $2, I will also donate all my personal commissions from any of these sets purchased through me. Let's help make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this earthquake!

117010 - I {Heart} Hearts wood mount - $35.95
118571 - I {Heart} Hearts clear mount (block D recommended) - $24.95

Orders can be placed through my online store, by email or by phone (780-467-7499). Let's do our part to make a difference!

Love You Much Valentine Card

Love You Much Valentine Card This was one of the projects we created at the MFRC class on Tuesday night. I was inspired by Shelley Bohan's card here. I loved the circles. This card shows you most of the beautiful patterns in the Sending Love Specialty paper (117153). This is beautiful paper - each sheet shines with glittery designs on one side! You can check it out in the Occasions Mini.

Wedding Invite - Thank You

Fresh Cut Notes
Good morning! I have a thank you card to share with you today. Remember these wedding invitations I did not too long ago? Well I designed this thank you card to send to the bride & groom for choosing me to do their invites. The color scheme was the same one used for the invites - Melon Mambo and Basic Black.
I love our laser cut notes - they really make putting cards together so quick & easy. This one uses the Fresh Cuts notes and the coordinating stamp set. Something to keep in mind, the cards are 4x4 and unfortunately, in Canada, you can't mail them out in their original envelopes. I like to mat mine onto a piece of 4-1/4"x5-1/2" cardstock, it adds a nice splash of color.

Wonderful Mother Card

Wonderful Mother Card Good morning! This is the other card we made at my open house on Saturday, again inspired by a card from leadership displays. I love this simple one layer card. The greeting on this card could easily be changed to suite so many different occasions.

The oval was created by making a template with the scallop oval die. I ran it through the Big Shot and then just taped the scallop portion back onto the negative space. This gave me an oval shape which I then used to cover up the outside of the card and then sponged the inside using Pretty in Pink ink. After the sponging, I took the flower cluster from the Messages for Mom set (118580) and stamped it in Old Olive along the lower right side. The butterflies were done using Stampin' Up!'s Beautiful Wings embosslits die. This creates absolutely gorgeous butterflies. Perfect for the look I wanted to achieve on this card. The greeting is from the Well Scripted set (118601) from the Occasions mini.

Vintage Best Wishes

Vintage Best Wishes Card Happy Monday morning! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Ours was good but very full, nothing out of the ordinary:)

Today I am sharing one of the two projects we did at my open house this weekend. I must admit that this card was inspired by one that I saw on one of the display boards at leadership, with a few changes to make it my own. I am loving all the new vintage images in the mini, especially after seeing what Shelli did with them at leadership!
Check out this gorgeous flower! Any idea how I made it? All I did was take a 2-1/2"x2-1/2" piece of whisper white cardstock and stamped the vine image from Vintage Vogue (117690) over and over in Rich Razzleberry ink to create my own patterned paper. Then I ran it through the Big Shot using the Floral Fusion embosslit (115969). I love this little layered flower! After cutting it out, I crumpled the flowers, did direct to paper with Crushed Curry, layered them and inserted a gold brad. Super easy but absolutely stunning!
I will be back tomorrow with the other project that we made.
Thanks for stopping by!

My Sweet Pea MDS Card

My Sweet Pea Digital Download Card Good morning, todays project is a My Digital Studio card I created using the new My Sweet Pea digital download. I am loving the color combination and patterns in this paper pack - both in the digital and paper versions. And those felt pieces - so gorgeous!

Simply Adorned Line - Now Available

Our Simply Adorned line beautifully combines the best of two worlds - stamping and jewelry! Stampin' Up! designed their Simply Adorned charms to hold a creation you design yourself, making your jewelry truly unique.

Simply Adorned charms are lockets - they open up so you can insert your custom designed image. The Charming and Tiny Tags sets, along with rub-ons, glitter, ribbons and other embellishments, can help you create your unique charm insert. And don't forget, you can embellish the chains with ribbon, felt flowers ... the possibilities are endless. The frame surrounds tempered beveled glass on the front and flat glass on the back. Because there's glass on both sides of the charm, you can display an image on one side or both. You can create a custom heirloom piece that you'll never want to change, or you can swap artwork in and out, depending on your mood and your wardrobe.

Although Simply Adorned charms were designed to be used as jewelry, they also make delightful key change or Christmas tree ornaments. Insert a stamped image or photo of a loved one, tie a ribbon through the clasp and you're done!

Beautiful Butterflies

I've been playing around with My Digital Studio quite a bit lately and took an advanced class while I was in Phoenix. It's really amazing what this program can do and just how easy it is to use. This is a 12x12 layout and the photo is of my daughter taken over the Christmas holidays. I wish I had the textured cardstock download (now available) when I did this layout. I think the Basic Gray background would have been fabulous in textured cardstock.
I loved this layout and color combination so much that I duplicated it in a 6x6 card format. Both have been submitted for printing - I'm excited to get them back.
I'm just wondering if you are interested in seeing more digital projects? I will never go strictly digital, I'm definitely a hands on crafter. However, I would happily share more if you are interested. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.
Thanks for stopping by,
Sherry

Doin' the Two Step with the Bird Punch

We made it back from Phoenix in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday - exhausted but full of ideas! I was so inspired by this leadership and the Saturday regionals that we stayed for. I will share a few photos later this week, once I've had time to download them.

Todays project is the swap that I am doing for my uplines monthly swap. It uses lots of product from the Occasions Mini catalogue.
  • Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch (117191) - love how you can change the look of the bird by simply changing the color or pattern of either the wing or the bird!
  • Scallop Trim Corner punch (118870) - wait until you see what this looks like combined with the Scallop Edge punch from the SAB catalogue!
  • Well Scripted clear mount stamp set (118601) - I'm lovin' the new clear mount stamps - especially for greetings!
  • Stampin' Up! Perfect Polka Dots Folder (117335) - the texture this adds is amazing!

The flower was done using a faux suede technique. This is the technique we are doing at my stamp clubs this month, in fact this is one of the cards. If you'd like to attend as a guest to check out how I run my clubs, just send me an email - you are more than welcome to attend.

Club meetings for this month are:

  • Tuesday January 12th - in north central Edmonton (contact me for location)
  • Wednesday January 13th - Sherwood Park
  • Saturday January 16th - Sherwood Park

At each club we create four projects - two cards, a 6x6 technique page and a 3D project. You attend for FREE with a minimum $25 purchase! So much fun to learn, while gradually building your supplies.

Until next time,

Sherry

Another Shoe Box Swap

Notice the texture on those butterflies? I am so excited about this new embosslit in the Occasions Mini. It's called Beautiful Wings (118138) and cuts out 4 adorable little butterflies, 3 of which are embossed! That's what Tracey Frith used on her shoe box card. I love how she combined it with the Level 1 hostess set - Of the Earth.
If you have any questions about this card or anything else, send me an email, I'd be happy to answer them.
Until next time,
Sherry

More Wedding Invitations

Before I left for Phoenix, which is where I am right now - this post was scheduled before I left - I finished up some wedding invites for a client. I'm really happy with the way they turned out. This package included the invitations, rsvp cards, table cards and a photo insert. I love the simplicity, yet elegance of them!

I love designing wedding invitations, it's one of my favorite things that I do and something that I beginning to specialize in. Over the next few months you will see quite a few wedding samples posted with some new toys that I've invested in.

If you are planning your wedding and are interested in either having your invitations made for you or would just like someone to help design them, feel free to send me an email. I'd be happy to help and you don't have to be local. We can work together via phone/email to get the design that you want. Click here to check out other wedding invitations that I have designed.

Until next time,
