Sweet Scoops - Take 2

Sweet Scoops take 2 As promised this is another card that we did at a recent class. Can you tell I'm lovin' the hole banner thing for my greetings. I seem to be doing this a lot!

Tip: Create a mask by stamping the ice cream onto a scrap piece of paper and cutting it out right along the edge. Once you've stamped the first scoop on the cone, place the mask overtop before you stamp the next. This gives you some depth to your stamped image.
Here's the inside of the card, a cute little bowl of ice cream using the 1-3/4" circle punch as the bowl!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Sherry
Supplies:
Stamps: Sweet Scoops (117078 - wood mount/120078 - clear mount)

Cardstock: Whisper White (100730); Tempting Turquoise (102067); Old Olive (100702); So Saffron (105118)
Accessories: Big Shot (113439); Square Lattice embossing folder (119976); 1-3/4" circle punch (104401); circle punch from the Punch Pack (118309).

Sweet Celebration CASE Card

Sweet Celebration CASED from Kim Van DiepenThey say that imitation is the best form of flattery. Well we, as papercrafters, are often imitating or copying ideas that we see elsewhere. Stampin' Up! calls this CASEing - Copy And Share Everything. This card was CASEd from a card designed by Kim Van Diepen, a fabulously talented paper crafter! The only thing I changed on the card is the colors, her original was in browns. I used another great set from the Summer Mini - Sweet Scoops.

This is the set that we worked with at one of my recent classes. I'll be sharing the rest of the cards with you over the next couple days.

Thanks for stopping by!

Inspiration from a Junk Mail!

We received this flyer in the mail a few days ago and normally I would just toss it into the recycle bin. However, I was really drawn to the artwork on the wall and thought I could get a similar look onto a card.
I was asked to design some wedding invites in Eggplant and Basic Gray right around the same time so had these colors sitting out. I used one of my favourite Summer Mini sets - Elements of Style - also one of the sets in the May promotion. I embossed the image with white embossing powder then used my 1-1/4" square punch to create blocks. I love how it turned out - what do you think?!

A Touch of Class

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. Ours was good - did some cleaning, visited my Grandma - who celebrated her 97th birthday last week, and watched a few movies. I was happy that the weather cleared up yesterday so the kids could spend some time outside - they were going a little crazy cooped up inside for 3 days.

Todays post is an invitation to a new monthly class I will be holding - A Touch of Class. Every month we will create 3 cards using the latest SU! product. Perfect for new and experienced stampers. Two of the three cards this month would make wonderful end-of-the-year thank you cards for teachers! I've purposefully left the greeting off the centre card for you to personalize based on the type of cards you need.

Here are the details:
When: Friday May 28th at 7pm
Where: Sherry's Stamping Studio (email me for address)
Cost: $15 (includes all supplies required to make projects above)
If you would like to attend - email me to confirm there is still space available, I'd love to have you join us!
If can't attend, I will make up the finished cards for you for $15 plus $2.50 shipping. These finished cards can be shipped anywhere, just use the paypal link and I will send them out to you within 3 days of receiving your payment.

Happy Victoria Day!

Happy Victoria Day or Memorial Day for my American readers! I thought I would share with you the layout we did at last weeks scrapbook club. Keeping with my plan to scrapbook only photos from our recent trip, I chose the photos from our stay at the Caribe Hilton hotel. I'm finding it a lot easier to journal doing it this way. Because all the details are so fresh, I seem to have a lot more to say.
Because I had a few too many photos for this layout but didn't want to create another page, I used one of our glassine envelopes (from the Occasions mini) to create a pocket and just tucked them in there.
I also had one photo that really didn't turn out very well. But because I had already printed it, I didn't want to throw it away so decided to use it in my title. I used the Serif Essentials Big Shot alphabet (113464) and cut out the S and J from the photo. Looks pretty cool eh?!
There are so many fun new products on these pages. I didn't take close-ups of everything but the red circles on the journalling block on the left page have the words Caribe Hilton stamped on them with the Rough Type alphabet from the Mini. I used the 1/2" punch to punch them out. This is one of the sets that is on special this month - check it out here. Another accent on the right page are the three Bitty Buttons (118761). I used the coordinating punch from the Punch Pack (118309) and punched a piece of real red cardstock to tuck behind to make them stand out a bit.
I hope this gives you some ideas to incorporate on your pages! Thanks for stopping by!

Great Gift Packaging!

I had a class on Friday where we created these adorable purses and 4 cards to go inside. I ended up with a few extra purses so thought I would whip them up and offer them to you. To give you an idea of the size - they are large enough to hold 6 standard size cards. Wouldn't they be adorable to use as gift packaging for end-of-the-year teacher gifts?! You don't necessarily have to use it for cards - I plan on using them for the Simply Adorned charm that I'm working on for Jordyn's teacher.

I have two of each design - they are only $15 each and will only be available while quantities last. Because this is classifies as finished products, I can ship anywhere but if you require it to be shipped, please email me your address so that I can find out accurate shipping. Don't use the Paypal link, I will send you a Paypal invoice.

**Update - Pumpkin Purse is Sold Out**
I also have 2 of the Heart to Heart album kits left if you are interested. You can check out the kit details here.

Life is a Matter of Moments - Take 2

This is the card we did at stamp club this month. I used the same technique and color combo that I posted about yesterday but switched up the card. I CASED (Copy And Share Everything) this layout from the monthly magazine that we as demonstrators receive. I love how it turned out. If you look closely we used the new Vanilla Shimmer Smootch and the color spritzer - I love using these two things together!

One of my favorite things about what I do is my monthly clubs. It allows me to get to know my customers and teach them techniques and project ideas that are a little more involved than what we can do in a workshop setting. If you are interested in finding out more about how I run my stamp clubs and how you can get in on one, email me and I'd be happy to fill you in!

Life is a Matter of Moments

Have you noticed the fabulous set Elements of Style in the Summer Mini? I must admit that this is not my usual style and probably not a set I would have ordered right away, if I had not received it for free at leadership. But I am absolutely loving it and it's versatility.

This card showcases the technique I did at my clubs this month - Faux Stencil. This isn't the card they made, I will show you that one tomorrow. I saw this technique for the first time on Meg Loven's blog . It's super easy but has a really cool look. Keep in mind that it works best with a solid or bolder image stamp. All you do is ink the stamp in the lightest color, then use a finger dauber in the next darkest color and add the ink to the stamp where you'd like it, then do the same with the darkest color, and stamp onto cardstock. The effect is the same you would get by sponging a stencil but so much easier! Isn't it beautiful?

This was another card we did at stamp club this month. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new square lattice embossing folder! Doesn't it give it a wicker look when done in the creamy caramel? Scrapbook Wall Art

As most of you know, I love to scrapbook and one of the things I love to do is frame my favorite layouts and showcase them throughout our house. They can easily be changed/updated and make wonderful personal pieces of art. The three pieces that I'm sharing with you today are hanging in our front room so everyone sees them when they walk in the house.

Unfortunately some of the supplies I used are no longer available - the dsp and the brass eyelets. The frames are just inexpensive IKEA frames that we had some ugly artwork in before I changed them up.
The two layouts of my kids on their own are in 8"x8" frames and the big one is about 24"x36" (frame size). I had to do some piecing together with the dsp for the large one because one sheet wasn't enough but I chose patterns that wouldn't show any seams. I added the beautiful Tree, Thoughts & Prayers (small) definitely decorative piece to the glass on the large frame. Our definitely decorative pieces are wonderful for these types of things - and you can take it with you when you move!

The photos of the kids on their own, were taken in a small town just outside of Medicine Hat Alberta - Hilda. We were there for a family reunion last year and happen to drive by this deserted building. I think it used to be a store. I thought it would make a wonderful backdrop for some photos so we did a super quick photo shoot. I chose the photos to portray the personalities of my kids. In this one - my daughter looks so sweet and innocent and for the most part she is. Eathan's is fun, it shows his silly side. He is always saying or doing the funniest things. They were the perfect photos for this project.

Here's a photo of how they look together on the wall.
I hope you enjoyed a little peak into some of the home decor we have in our home and that it gives you some ideas for your own. If you'd like to see what other Definitely Decorative pieces we offer, you can view the brochures here and here. Be sure to stop by on June 1st to find out which pieces from these brochures will be retiring.

MOJO138 - Scrapbook Layout

I love using sketches, especially when I scrapbook. They are a great starting point. Sometimes, I will stick to the sketch, other times it just gets me started and I end up with something completely different. The Mojo Monday card sketches work wonders for scrapbook layouts with just one or two photos. Check out what I did for this weeks Mojo sketch.

It's hard to see from the photo but the Real Red cardstock in behind the photo is textured with the polka dot SU! Backgrounds texture plate, then a little shimmer was added using our new Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.

I hope to have a few more layouts with photos from our trip to share with you over the next few weeks. I've decided to try something different - I'm going to scrapbook my whole trip over the next few weeks (well probably months). I normally don't scrapbook by theme or even chronologically, I scrapbook what I'm in the mood to scrapbook. I have albums full of wonderful pages but none of the albums are completely finished, apart from Eathan's baby album. So I'm going to try just focusing on this one trip and scrapbook the entire thing! I'll post my pages as I go along... wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by!

Travel Journal

As promised, I've got my travel journal photos to share with you today. I didn't take a photo of the cover because I didn't have time to add a title so these are the inside pages. The front and back covers are from our On Board Book Basics (small) - basically they are just pieces of 5"x 7-1/2" chipboard. The stamps used throughout the album are from the Summer Mini - Sentimental Journey and Tropical Party. I can see using both these sets lots in my album.

The photo above is of the inside cover and I wanted to create a pocket to tuck little mementos inside.

Then I created a cover page for each day. Behind that is a sheet on which I wrote my thoughts etc. So this is the first tab. I love the look of the lattice die when it is applied on the same color cardstock.

For tab 2 - I used the scallop square die. It flips over to reveal the white cardstock with the image of the cruise ship.

Another thing that I wanted was a couple envelopes to tuck any postcards/odds & ends into. The glassine envelopes from the Occasions Mini fit the bill so I used a couple of those.

This is a piece of the Seasonal Pieces window sheets. Another thing that I wanted to do is use a variety of mediums and things that I had on hand.

Page 5 is straightforward - the number 5 is from a retired chipboard pack. The next page has the sand all the way across and then just the three palm trees on the right. That was one of my favorite pages.

The cover for page 6 is just a piece of the island oasis dsp. It flips over to reveal just a solid pumpkin piece of cardstock for journalling.

Page 7 is another piece of the printed window sheets and I wrote the date, our stop for that day and the towel animal and pillow present onto it using a sharpie marker.

Another glassine envelope for page 8. And then I created another tab that said notes and had several different sizes of white cardstock for additional notes or thoughts. It looks much different now that it's written in but I love how it turned out. If you are at any of my upcoming events be sure to ask to see it - I'd be happy to show you.
