Home Sweet Home gets in the Halloween Spirit

I must admit that I am not much of a Halloween person, I don't like dressing up, I'm not a fan of Halloween movies, the idea of kids going house to house to ask for candy or the creepy aspect of it. However, my kids have always gone trick or treating and I do love some of the decor and do decorate a little bit - mostly using the things that I've created over the years.  Every year I create a Halloween layout to add to our family album with photos of the kids in their costumes. This year I got a jump start on the layout when I was playing with the Sweet Home stamp set prepping for a demonstration I did at our World Card Making Day event. I'm not even sure if my kids will be dressing up this year - they are 17 and 13 so a little old to be going trick or treating but maybe there will be a Halloween party they can attend:)

The layout uses a combination of products from the Sweet Home bundle (p. 40 of the Holiday catalogue) as well as a couple dies from the Halloween Scenes Edgelits dies (p. 52).

If you look closely you can see that the house has some bricks stamped on it. To create this look, I inked the house up with smoky slate ink and then took the brick image from the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set (CM #142241 / WM #142238), inked it with basic grey and then stamped right onto the stamp. Then I stamped the house image onto the white cardstock. This brick image is perfect for these little houses!

I ended up loving this layout so much that I wanted to recreate it as a card. Super cute card - perfect to leave on the neighbours doorstep with some Halloween treats!

And then of course, we needed a little house to go along with the layout and card! These little houses are so cute and once you get started, you can't stop making them. You can really turn them into any type of building! Wouldn't it be cute to create a whole little village!

You can see, I used that same brick image to stamp the side of the house. It's the perfect fit! I love it!!

This spooky collection of projects that I shared with you today uses the Sweet Home stamp set (#140936) and the Home Sweet Home thinlits dies (#140279). You can purchase these items as a bundle and save 10% using product #143516. I look forward to sharing lots of different projects with you over the next few weeks using this bundle of products!

Have a creative day!
