Black Swan Layout

Hope you had a great weekend! I certainly did - we went out to Cosmos (my favorite Greek restaurant) to celebrate my birthday on Saturday night. Sooo yummy! The rest of the weekend was a relatively quiet one for us.

It's been a while since I've shared a layout from our cruise album so I thought I would share one with you today. While in Antigua we went on a Pirate Ship excursion - one of Eathans favorite parts of the trip. This was the layout I did with the photos and for my scrapbook club in January.

We did a lot of stamping this time around. Actually, I don't think anyone used the big shot at all which is out of the ordinary for a scrapbook club. The banner was done using an image from the Party This Way stamp set. I punched holes and then fed some hemp through it to create the look of a banner.

Another thing that we did was collage stamping. That's how the strips down the sides were created. I used the wonderful Extreme Elements stamp set and a variety of colors chosen from the photos and just randomly stamped on some whisper white cardstock. It looks like patterned paper doesn't it?

I found the black background just too harsh so I took a stipple brush and my whisper white craft ink and just brushed on some white ink to soften the black. It also gives the layout a bit of a dirty look which is perfect for a pirate layout! I am really happy with the way it turned out.

That's it for today, thanks for stopping! Be sure to come back tomorrow for the release of the February Creative ARTwork kit.
