Inspiration is Everywhere

Do you ever struggle with what colors to put together when you create? Maybe you have the same colors that you go to when you craft and you are looking for a change.

The color revamp has definitely forced me to be a little more creative with my colors and I am loving it. But it can be a challenge to use new colors when you are comfortable with your favorites. So I thought today we'd talk about where we can find inspiration for color combinations.

As you are out and about, make note of the things that draw your attention - it could be the colors that are drawing you in. Here are just a few ideas on where to find inspiration in your everyday...
  • Nature - gardens are blooming with flowers this time of the year, but there's also sunsets and sunrises, the colors you see while hiking
  • Shopping - grocery stores - the produce section especially, home decor and clothing stores
  • Fashion magazines and billboards
  • Architecture and art galleries
These are just a few things that are around us as we go about our lives. But there are lots of other places right under your nose.
  • Pinterest - search color combinations and you'll find lots of inspiration
  • SU! Publications - there are lots of samples in the catalogue, find one that appeals to you and use that color combination
  • Color coach - SU! has provided us with a different color combinations to help us with the combining the new colors with the old colors. You can download a copy of the color coach here. And one for the in colors here.
  • Your demonstrator - we are here to help you with your creativity. If you are having a hard time combining colors just ask and we'll help you come up with a color combination. The card that I shared above is a color combination that I put together - Gorgeous Grape, Lemon Lime Twist and Mossy Meadow.
  • And then there's my favorite way to get inspiration - using the colors that SU! put together to create our patterned papers!

For this card, I pulled the colors right from the Garden Impressions DSP - Shaded Spruce, Soft Seafoam, Calypso Coral and Powder Pink. The great thing about pulling the color from the dsp is that you don't even need to own the dsp to use that color combination.

I shared how these cards come together live on Facebook. Here's the recording if you'd like to watch it.

Have a creative weekend!
